There have been a lot of rumors lately claiming that several parts of Mount Everest had closed down.
However, those rumors turned out not to be true.
Tibet’s Mount Qomolangma National Nature Preserve will continue to be open to the public, and mountaineering will still be carried out, according to local authorities.
The tourist base camp has been evacuated from the main area, but this will not affect tours of the Mount Everest.
An article was recently published to claim that the Administration Bureau of the Mount Everest in Dingri County had issued a notice in December 2018, forbidding any unit or individual to enter the area above the Rongbusi Temple in the Mount Everest reserve.
Following this publication, the Qomolangma Reserve Management Bureau Deputy Director responded by saying that it did, in fact, release the announcement, but that it had been misinterpreted.
As of this year, the tourist base will retreat to the Rongbusi area.
