This Cambodian Boy Speaking 10 Languages Life is Changed!

Last year, we posted an article about a little boy (This Young Boy Speaks 10 Languages & Became Sensation!).

In it was a video shot at Angkor Wat, Siem Reap, Cambodia. The video was taken by a Malaysian woman named Venus. Venus said her intention was to call attention to the growth of local children in Cambodia.

Throughout the dialogue, the boy, Salik, and the visitor spoke 10 languages: Chinese, Cantonese, English, French, Thai, Japanese, German, Spanish, Malay, and Filipino and the boy also claimed he’s able to speak Korean, too.

Salik said he’d learned all these languages from tourists and he said he likes China and wants to go to University in Beijing.

Today we have an update!

Soon after the popularity of Salik, Hai Liang education’s chairman Feng Hailiang saw his video on the Internet. He felt that the child was smart and very talented in language. “If he has good training, he will have a good future,” said Feng Hailiang.

His team went to Cambodia to communicate with Salik’s family in person.

He had hoped to fully support Salik to study Chinese culture and fulfill his dream by attending a university in China. Hailiang education arranged for the Sari family to visit their school in China.

Therefore, he hopes to fully support him to study Chinese culture and realize his dream of attending Peking University and Tsinghua University.

On May 13, 14-year-old Salik from a poor family in Cambodia came to China. He will start his studies and a brand new life in China!

He is studying at Hai Liang School in Zhejiang now and then he will complete his high school, college, master’s and even doctor’s degrees under the sponsorship of Hai Liang education.

Salik met his classmates.

Hai Liang Charity Foundation is responsible for tuition, living, and medical expenses for international talents before graduation. The tuition will be fully funded and half of the living expenses will be covered.

If he’s admitted to Peking University and Tsinghua University, he will also receive special scholarships.

Our team at GiC wish Salik a good future in China and can’t wait for more updates on his progression. Maybe he’ll learn 9 more languages!
